Roberto Palomba -The Design Process
A successful lecture by the architect and designer Roberto Palomba was held on the 8th of March at Leventis Art Gallery in Nicosia. The lecture was organized by Epiphaniou Bath & Floors and the Cyprus Architects Association. Prestigious architects as well as upcoming professionals of the architecture and interior design field, and esteemed guests, including the ambassadors of Italy and Switzerland, attended the lecture.
Roberto Palomba has rightfully earned the title of a ‘design genius’. His interesting lecture revealed an uncompromising and creative person that escapes from rigid and conventional guidelines. His inspiration springs from the forms found in nature and hovers between geometrical and organic lines.
The simplicity of terms used to describe his life work and the direct approach of addressing the audience resulted in an undivided attention of everyone throughout the lecture.
Roberto Palomba is a special associate for the Swiss manufacturer Laufen Bathrooms, a company for which Epiphaniou Bath & Floors acts as the exclusive representative in Cyprus. Laufen’s sanitary ware series carrying Palomba’s name, Palomba Collection, has a unique character, where all elements harmonize with one another in a total and unconventional way.
Kartell by Laufen, another design line by Roberto & Ludovica Palomba, is colourful, iconic and is marked by revolutionised furnishing in high-quality plastic materials. This line is not only innovative but it manages to yield senses to emotions. Both design series have received numerous design awards, including the RedDot, iF product design and Design Plus label awards. The role of design in people’s lives was one of the issues that Palomba addressed during his speech. He believes that our daily routines should define design and not the other way round. He also supported that it is the designers’ and the manufacturers’ responsibility to create environmentally friendly products.
